"Please #OvaryAct and help us raise awareness of ovarian cancer"

02 March 2017

Chief executive Katherine Taylor

It's Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Katherine Taylor, Chief Executive, encourages you take take action and get involved.

"March is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Team OCA is firing on all cylinders. ‘OCAM’ kicked off yesterday with a flurry of media stories around our recent research into women’s understanding of the symptoms of ovarian cancer and when to act on health worries.

As you might expect, women tend to prioritise those around us, focussing on the health of our children, partners, parents and even pets. This, coupled with a lack of awareness about of ovarian cancer (90% of us don’t know the four symptoms) can mean that ovarian cancer gets detected late – and like all cancer, the earlier it is found, the easier it is to treat.

We’ve made a short film about the symptoms –  please #OvaryAct and share this with your friends and family.  The 30 seconds it takes to watch it could save a life.

OCAM for us also means Walk In Her Name, and the team here will be walking on Sunday for everyone touched by ovarian cancer.

It’s not too late to organise your own walk in celebration or memory of a woman you love. Our event pack will give you lots of tips – you can find out more and register here or email Fundraising@ovarian.org.uk.

Have a great Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month: know the symptoms, share the symptoms."
