Raise awareness of statistics and symptoms

What you need to know

  • Ovarian cancer is a type of cancer that affects the ovaries, which are part of the female reproductive system.
  • Every 2 hours another woman dies from ovarian cancer. It kills more women in the UK than womb, cervical, vulval, and vaginal cancers combined.
  • Ovarian cancer most commonly affects women over the age of 50, but ovarian cancer can affect women of all ages.
  • One in four women mistakenly think their smear test will detect the disease.
  • Symptoms are often mistaken for less serious conditions like IBS.

How you can help

At Ovarian Cancer Action we have been funding vital research since 2006. We've made some exciting discoveries but research takes time. So while our scientists are busy working in the lab to find a screening tool and better treatments, we need your help to raise awareness of the disease and its symptoms. Early diagnosis saves lives.

Below you can find a number of different social media posts for you to save and share with your online community.
