Beth Mead becomes Ambassador for Ovarian Cancer Action
We're delighted to welcome England Lioness and Arsenal star, Beth Mead as an ambassador for Ovarian Cancer Action.
While 2022 was an incredible year for Beth professionally, winning FSA Player of the Year, the Golden Boot as part of the Lionesses incredible victory at Euro 2022, and then Sports Personality of the Year, it was a very challenging year for her and her family.
Sadly, in January 2023, Beth's mum June passed away from ovarian cancer within two years of being diagnosed. Everything we've heard and learnt about Beth's mum have demonstrated what a fantastic, caring, inspirational and extremely well-loved figure she was. The football community showed their love wearing armbands across numerous fixtures, paying tribute on and off the field to June.
Beth Mead, Ovarian Cancer Action Ambassador"As people know by now, this is something really close to me and my family. Ovarian cancer is a silent killer and much more research is needed. My mum wanted to help other families from having to experience what we and other families have gone through. This is why our family have started a tribute fund page in honour of my mum. I would love for anyone to donate and help us raise awareness of this awful disease."
We were delighted to partner with Beth, back in December, on a limited edition Christmas card, and now are privileged to call her an Ambassador for the charity.
Beth will also be our Walk in Her Name Captain for 2023. She is currently injured and cannot walk the full 100km whilst she is recovering. However, she is passionate about fuelling ovarian cancer research and is asking her fans to join in by walking kms In Her Name.
We look forward to working with Beth across a range of activities and will support her and her family over the coming months and years.
