NHS BRCA SCREENING

A free BRCA testing service has been launched by the NHS for the Jewish community from early 2023. This service is part of a 3 year programme to prevent hereditary cancer in the Jewish community. 

Those taking part can find out if they carry a BRCA 1 or BRCA 2 gene fault which increases their risk of developing certain cancers. Anyone found to have a genetic fault will then be referred to a genetics clinic and be able to access cancer risk management options. 

In order to take part you will need:

  • To have at least one Jewish grandparent (of any type of Jewish origin e.g Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Mizrahi etc).
  • To be 18 or over.
  • To live in England.
