Where in the process is OvarianVax? On the road to clinical trials.

As we’ve shared in previous updates, scientists are working to design a vaccine that could help the immune system recognise and stop ovarian cancer before it develops. So far, they’ve:

1. Found the ‘warning signs’

Researchers have identified patterns within cancer cells that the immune system could be trained to recognise.

2. Shown the immune system can learn to attack ovarian cancer cells

In lab studies, immune cells have been successfully ‘taught’ to find and respond to ovarian cancer.

3. Started to build the vaccine

Different versions of the vaccine are now being tested to find the safest and most effective option.

“Women with lived experience of ovarian cancer are helping shape key decisions in this research - from how the vaccine might be given, to what matters most to those it will be developed for. I look forward to sharing updates with you as this work progresses.”

- Prof Ahmed Ahmed, lead researcher
