Tina's story: Skydive for Mum

Tina took a skydive for her Mum
When Tina lost her mum, Yvonne, to ovarian cancer in 2023, it was a heartbreaking shock to the entire family. The loss was sudden, and the grief overwhelming, but Tina knew she wanted to honour her mum’s memory in a way that truly captured her spirit.
My mum (Yvonne) was a very strong-willed character who did amazing things for others while she was alive,” says Tina. “One moment I’ll never forget is when she decided, at the age of 55 and never having flown before, to jump out of a plane and do a skydive for charity. That was Mum - fearless, determined, and always thinking of others.”
Inspired by her mum’s bravery and generosity, Tina decided to follow in her footsteps — quite literally — by signing up to do a skydive in her honour. And not just on any day. Tina took on this challenge on her mum's birthday.
It felt like the perfect tribute - to do something bold, something that would make Mum proud, while raising money for ovarian cancer research so other families don’t have to go through what we did.”
