How we're using your views to inform the Government's Major Conditions Strategy
The Call for Evidence is now opened to inform the Government's Major Conditions Strategy but we want you to know that your voices have and will be heard.
Back in March 2023 (Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month), as part of One Cancer Voice, we took a petition to 10 Downing Street to stand up for people affected by cancer and ensure there's commitment for a longer term strategy that focuses on transforming cancer research, diagnosis, treatment and patient experience.
This was in response to the Government's decision to replace a 10 Year Cancer Plan (which over 5,000 people had contributed their views to) with a Major Conditions Strategy, and we were concerned the crisis in cancer care – growth in waiting times, backlog of patients and worsening patient experience – would not be prioritised.
More than 75,000 of you signed this petition and your voices will be listened to. We've pushed for the Government to commit to including our previous 10 Year Cancer Plan submission to inform the Major Conditions Strategy.
For everyone who added your views that submission, your stories will be listened to and your contribution matters. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and for those of you who haven't – you still can.
Please add your views to the Major Conditions Strategy call for evidence (open until 27th June 2023) and ensure people affected by ovarian cancer are heard. Ovarian cancer has often been called the silent killer but we don't think it's silent, we think it needs to be heard.
We know that symptoms are experienced, stories are shared, and incredible progress is being made in research and care – but we need to be louder for people to listen, to change the future, and make ovarian cancer a survivable disease for all women.
