What is Walk in Her Name?
Join us for a virtual challenge to raise awareness and funds for ovarian cancer research. Walk 100km throughout March, at your own pace, and help us make a difference.
Ovarian cancer is often overlooked, and research is desperately needed. By supporting Ovarian Cancer Action, you'll be helping fund life-saving research and improve the lives of women affected by this disease.
Where does it take place?
There is no set location for you to take on your walk.
You can fit them in around your lifestyle or go for a special long walk with friends and family in your local area. Please feel free to join in, fundraise and get your kilometres in at the location of your choice.
Please make sure wherever you are walking is safe, and consider walking during only daylight hours if you are going solo. Ensure that you are planning your routes wisely. If you are walking after daylight hours, please do ensure you wear reflective clothing - a lightweight flashlight may come in handy.
Is there a registration fee?
No, registration is free. As a thank you for signing up, you'll receive a free #TeamOCA t-shirt!

Participation
Do I have to walk the entire 100km in one go?
No, you have the entire month of March to complete the challenge at your own pace. You can break it down into smaller walks or even do the entire 100km in one go if you'd like!
Does it have to be 100km?
We hope everyone who takes part is able to complete the full 100km distance within the month. However, we do not want anyone to overstretch themselves and pick up an injury. Of course, if you would like challenge yourself to go further than 100km, that is also very welcome!
Do I have to walk, or can I run?
You can choose whichever activity you find most comfortable, be it walking, running, or a combination of both.
How can I track my distance?
We recommend using a service like Strava. This allows you to track and share your distance using your smartphone. You can sign up for a free account at strava.com. Alternatively, many smartphones have an inbuild tracker or health app which you can use.
I am finding walking in memory of my loved one difficult, where can I find more information about bereavement support?
We know that this can be a difficult time and it is natural to feel a range of emotions after someone close to you has passed away. There is support available to help you, we have included more information on our website.
I can’t do March; can I choose another date?
Starting the challenge at the same time means we can all take part as a community and motivate each other in memory and in celebration of our loved ones, so we ask that you try to keep to March where possible. Of course, if you are struggling to fit in your distance in the month, you can absolutely take a little longer to finish.
