Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

OCAM 2017

This March, we're calling on the UK to #OvaryAct. To take action to change the fact that 90% of women do not know the symptoms of ovarian cancer.

Our new campaign highlights the true extent that women are putting themselves last when it comes to health and a general confusion around the symptoms and screening tests for the sixth most common cancer among women, ovarian cancer.

We’re on a mission to spread awareness far and wide. Whether you can spare one minute to tweet, or 10 hours to organise an event, do what you can to help us fight for a world where no woman dies from ovarian cancer. Read on to find out how you can take action and get involved...

Spread the word on social media

Share our symptoms film with your friends and family. It only takes 30 seconds to watch but it could save a life!

Share your story

We’re always looking for new blog posts and regularly talk to journalists who are looking to raise awareness. Sharing your story can help us reach thousands of women and tell them all about ovarian cancer.

Email Ross@ovarian.org.uk to find out more.

Hold a fundraising event

Holding your own fundraising event during March is a brilliant way to spread awareness of ovarian cancer and its symptoms, whilst raising money towards our research into the disease.

We can send you any fundraising materials you may need for your event, such as a collection box, pin badges or some balloons. You can order your materials here

  • Hold a coffee morning or tea party: Invite your friends round for a coffee morning or afternoon tea party. Pop a collection box on the table, and ask guests to make a donation.
  • Pub quiz: Ask your local landlord if they will let you host a pub quiz, and ask guests for a donation to take part. Gather together some prizes and let the games begin!
  • Dinner party: Get your family and friends over for a dinner party. Why not decorate the room in teal, and ask diners to make a donation for what they think dinner was worth!
  • Bake sale: These are always very popular at work! Ask colleagues to bring a cake or sweet treat, and we’ll send you decorations and a collection box for donations.

We want to know about your fundraising event! Please get in touch with Beatrix on 020 7380 1730 or at Beatrix@ovarian.org.uk and don’t forget to send us any pictures you take!

Walk In Her Name

Overcoming ovarian cancer is about working together. So this year, we are asking you to join forces and organise a walk in the name of a loved one who has or has had ovarian cancer.

Anyone and everyone can Walk In Her Name. Pick a route and date to suit you, round up some friends and family, and walk in honour of yourself or someone you love.

Find out how to organise your Walk In Her Name.

Box2Beat Cancer

Box2Beat Cancer is a three hour boxercise class that will raise vital funds for our research and awareness work. What better way to take action against this horrible disease? Find out how to hold your own Box2Beat Cancer event or find a class near you.

Raise Awareness

Ovarian cancer can affect women of all ages and with no national screening programme it's vital that every woman knows the symptoms. Help us raise awareness by distributing leaflets in your work place or local community. Email Ross@ovarian.org.uk
