Why Walk In Her Name?
Ovarian cancer is a disease that kills a woman every two hours in the UK, striking at the heart of what it means to be a woman.
It's time to strike back.
Overcoming ovarian cancer is about working together. So this year we’re asking your salon to join our fight and organise a walk to help fund research into the prevention, treatment and cure of this disease.
Hair stylist Danielle Golding (below), was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer aged just 23. It took months of going back and forth to the hospital before finding out she had tumours on both of her ovaries and that she required immediate surgery. This was particularly worrying, as she had been trying for a baby. Danielle said: “I was 23 and all of a sudden I was going through the menopause. My partner and I are hoping to be able to have a baby through IVF in 2018 and I want to share my story to encourage women at any age with symptoms that don’t feel right to go to their GP immediately.”
Taking part is easy!
Planning your walk couldn't be easier - simply:
- Plan your route: a stroll around the park or a longer walk in the countryside - you decide!
- Book a date
- Set a target (£1,000 per salon is a great goal!)
- Let everyone know: why not invite your clients to sponsor you?
